St. Therese Religious Education is hiring for a Family Ministry and Sacraments Coordinator. This full-time position (40 hours) is a mission-oriented person who will foster a culture of discipleship for families and students. The ideal candidate will work in collaboration with the Religious Education staff to prepare, organize, teach, execute and coordinate the sacramental programs (baptism (support initiatives), First Communion and Confirmation) and catechetical programs and events to support families in their faith journey (including family life and marriage). This position, which requires a bachelor’s degree in theology or education, does require weekends and evenings.

SCOPE OF MINISTRY FOCUS: Confirmation Preparation, First Reconciliation and First Communion Preparation, assist with Baptism-related programming, Foundations of Faith, Totus Tuus (lead), Summer Intensive (support), Family Enrichment/Ministry, Family Catechesis, Adult Education (related to family ministry) and Marriage Enrichment.
PRIMARY OBJECTIVES:
Collaborate with the religious education staff in the development, planning and execution of family ministry program that includes family enrichment, family catechesis, parent (adult) education, family retreats and marriage enrichment.
Develop goals, objectives and strategies for family ministry including needs assessment (of parish families) and evaluations.
Encourage and support parents as the primary catechists at home and encourage their involvement in liturgy and parish life; communicate and provide opportunities and resources that support them in their endeavors.
Partner with the religious education staff in the development, planning and execution of sacramental preparation related to Confirmation and First Reconciliation and Communion.
Coordinate with the Baptism Coordinator to plan baptismal programming for baptismal families aiming to connect them to parish life.
Work with the DRE to provide ongoing and creative weekly programs (including content and lesson plans) for the Confirmation and First Communion programs
Team collaboration with various religious education ministries in relation to initiatives, events and meetings (i.e. Education & Formation Commission, sacramental retreats and Mass celebrations, etc.)
Recruit, train and evaluate catechists and volunteers and develop on-going formation of catechetical team formation development ensuring that all curriculum and all catechists and volunteers support the teachings of the Catholic Church
Effectively and consistently communicate all relevant information to students, parents and the larger parish community fostering community and involvement in parish life and liturgy including family catechesis & enrichment
Coordinate Confirmation retreats (Fall and Spring); service projects; and Confirmation rehearsals and Masses in accordance with the diocesan sacramental guidelines; facilitate parent/candidate meeting; Coordinate First Reconciliation/First Communion retreats, rehearsals and Masses in accordance with the diocesan guidelines.
Maintain a current level of knowledge and skills required to effectively serve in position by participating in various diocesan workshops, continuing education, webinars, certification and budgeted conferences and professional opportunities
Fulfills other responsibilities as identified by supervisor and/or Pastor
QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Bachelor (or Master Level College Degree) in Education or Theology (or experience in administering ministry/sacramental programs)
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Minimum two years’ experience administering a religious education program (or similar education program) including working with volunteers. Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, public speaking, and presentation skills. Must be available to work evenings and weekends to meet the needs and availability of our parishioners. Bilingual, preferred. Candidate must be a practicing Catholic in good standing.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
SCOPE OF WORK:
A flexible work schedule that includes evenings and weekends.
Coordinate the preparation, design and delivery of the Confirmation, First Reconciliation and First Communion sacramental program in collaboration with the DRE/pastor and liturgy coordinator including retreats, rehearsals, sacramental Mass celebrations and receptions all in accordance with the guidelines of the Diocese of Charlotte.
Executing family ministry program and events i.e. parent education and marriage enrichment opportunities).
Utilize leadership skills that include summer programing: Summer Intensive (assist), Totus Tuus/VBS (lead), when available you may participate with mission trips/camps (assist through chaperoning; partnering with youth minister).
Recruit, train, supervise, evaluate catechists and volunteers and form core teams for programs (if needed).
Explore and research opportunities to enhance and augment sacramental preparation programs and family ministry.
As a faith formation team, develop and identify needs of unengaged families to create opportunities to learn and grow their faith and develop relational building opportunities.
COMMUNICATIONS:
Communicate effectively and consistently via different mediums (email/text platform, bulletin, flyers, social media), with families to promote programs being offered in both middle school and Confirmation preparation.
Inform parish of activities pertaining to Faith Formation, Family Ministry and Sacrament programs.
Communicate with volunteers involved in Faith Formation and Sacrament programs.
Distribute weekly agenda and lesson plans to Sacramental Preparation Teams.
Facilitate informational and “parent/student” meetings for Faith Formation and Sacrament programs and communicating expectations; develop and update parent and sacramental handbooks.
Listen to and serve parishioners and families in a hospitable, pastoral environment setting high customer service goals of greeting families, responding to emails & phone messages in a timely fashion, and utilizing out of office replies (email & phone).
CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT:
Incorporate a wide variety of components (i.e., catechesis, evangelization, service, community building, spirituality, and liturgy) into the curriculum.
Review curriculum on an annual basis and explore new programming to meet current & future needs of students and families.
Ensure that curriculum supports the teachings of the Catholic Church and the program meets Diocese of Charlotte policies and guidelines and supports the parish mission statement.
SPIRITUAL AND PROFESSIONAL GROWTH:
Continue your formation in the Church’s mission of evangelization, catechesis and ministry through staff development, personal & staff enrichment, diocesan workshops/meetings and available conferences.
Encourage the spiritual development and formation of catechists including certification.
Cultivate and maintain relationships with St. Therese staff, clergy and parishioners.
Exhibit loyalty and uphold the integrity and dignity of the clergy and peer staff to others in a professional, working environment.
ADMINISTRATIVE FUNCTIONS:
Demonstrate effective time management skills, excel at prioritizing responsibilities and adhering to work week hours.
Maintain a professional work area (personal and team).
Assist Volunteer Coordinator to ensure all program volunteers are compliant with safe environment policies/procedures.
Assist with developing yearly budget related to scope of ministries and adhere to that budget including accurate record keeping (including credit card usage and turning in receipts/invoices timely).
Schedule weekly/monthly/annual calendar classes/events for programs.
Attend St. Therese Parish Staff and Faith Formation meetings & staff development, and other parish events representing faith formation, as required.
Implement all diocesan and parish administrative policies as written in related policy handbooks.
latino ministry coordinator
Part Time (Hourly)
The Latino Ministry Coordinator serves as liaison between the Latino community and the broader St. Therese parish community. It is a paid, part-time position (25 hours per week, generally Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday (hours may vary)). The selected candidate will report to the Parish Manager and must be able to work onsite at St. Therese. The Latino Ministry Coordinator is responsible for:
Serving the Latino Community and the broader Catholic community at St. Therese
Integrating ministry efforts, as practicable, with parish and diocesan programs
Working closely with the Vicariate Hispanic Coordinator; representing the Parish to the Diocese on Latino issues; and establishing contacts to assist the Latino community
Serving as the staff Spanish translator and interpreter:
Assisting with Sunday Spanish Mass by translating announcements and assisting parishioners before and after the Mass.
Providing advice assistance to the "English as a Second Language" (ESL) Program
Maintaining or updating documents in Spanish, or translating documents to Spanish, as required. These documents include:

The Parish Handbook and Stewardship Guide
Developing and promoting educational and spiritual programs for the Latino community, including spiritual retreats (Advent and Lent)
Working with Parish Staff to recruit Latino liturgical ministers, when needed
Performing duties as assigned in the Parish Office. Responsibilities include:
Representing St. Therese in word and action to all parties
Carrying out phone and other communication activities
Scheduling Mass Intentions, as required, and preparing Mass cards
Providing welcoming and effective parish customer service at the office window
Scheduling and coordinating Quinceaneras for Latino Families
Candidate requirements include:
Speaking, reading, and writing fluently in English and Spanish
Understanding and representing the needs of the Latino community
Having facility with standard staff software applications
Understanding and applying program management
Having a flexible schedule
